A Study on the Patients Referred to the Psychiatry for the Purpose of Mental Disability Evaluation


Abstract
The author analyzed 34 cases of head injury patients referred to the psychiatry for the purpose of mental disability evaluations.
The results are summarized as follows.
1. The incidence was high in males of socioeconomically poor classes and socially active age group.
2. Organic mental disorder was the most frequent diagnosis.
3. By the disability evaluation criteria of Mcbride, most frequent results of assessment was in the range of 11-40%.
4. Frequent symptoms were headache, memory disturbance, personality change, dizziness and sleep disturbance.
5. The patients who showed the findings of brain abnormality tended to have advantage in disability evaluation.
